RGM Introducing (UK) – We interview Romain Swan

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

The moment I stepped on stage for the first time, I knew music was my calling. Feeling the energy of the crowd and connecting with people through my songs was electrifying. It was more than just a passion, it was a realization that this is where I’m meant to be.

Introduce us to you all and your musical history.

My name is Romain Swan, and I’m a singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Music has been my passion for over a decade, and it’s become the core of who I am. I started playing guitar as a teenager, inspired by the raw energy of rock and metal bands like Metallica or Slipknot.

Over time, I found my own voice and began crafting songs that blend powerful melodies with introspective lyrics.

Romain Swan & The Raindrops, my live projec was born out of a desire to connect deeply with people through music. Together, we create a sound that merges pop-rock with influences from metalcore and alternative rock, offering an emotional yet high-energy experience. Every song we write tells a story, exploring themes like love, heartbreak, resilience, and transformation.

This journey has taken me from intimate shows to bigger stages, always with the same mission: to create an authentic connection with the audience through my music. I’m here to share stories, energy, and always more passion, one performance at a time.

What’s the live music scene like in Paris right now? Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)?

The live music scene in Paris is vibrant but also challenging. There’s so much talent, and people are eager to discover new sounds. It’s really tough to be booked in this city, so, when I get a venue, I do everything to make the moment unforgettable.

I’ve seen a lot of people struggling for support recently online. What’s your view on the industry?

The music industry is both a blessing and a challenge. Social media gives artists a platform, but it also creates immense pressure to stay relevant. It’s tough for independent artists to break through without significant resources. That said, authenticity and persistence go a long way in connecting with an audience.

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

We’re in that exciting stage of growth and building my fanbase, refining my sound, and making my mark. I’m still considered independent, but I’m aiming to bridge the gap to larger stages and bigger opportunities.

Tell us two truths and a lie about you.

  1. I landed a plane before I could drive a car

  2. I once imitated the frog in front tens of thousands of people while I performed a TV Show

  3. I hate to eat meat. (Spoiler alert : that’s so wrong ahah)

Do you ever worry about people taking things the wrong way or cancel culture? Discuss….

It’s always a concern, especially when you pour your heart into lyrics that can be interpreted in many ways. The key is staying authentic and open to dialogue. Art is meant to challenge, inspire, and spark conversation, not avoid it. Concerning the cancel culture, I’m absolutely not in phase with it. It’s clearly a bad joke that turned into a nightmare for the artists in general. I’m totally against the cancel culture. And it’s time to take all the responsibilities to make Art great again.

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories? If not, why not?

Kind of. In my terms, I believe that if you are smart, then you ask questions. And obviously, you want true answers. Not all the bullshit that the mainstream medias can give us to eat every day and every night.

What was your best experience on stage?

One of my best experiences was playing to La Boule Noire, a famous Rock Club in Paris where international rockstars came before me, like Metallica or Linkin Park.

Also, everyone was singing the lyrics back to us. It was surreal to see that connection come alive.

What was your worst experience on stage?

During a live set, my guitar string snapped during a key moment. I had to improvise with the band to keep the energy up until I could switch guitars. It was chaotic, but we made it work!

Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.

I’m very nervous before each live performance and I feel exactly the same before a studio recording or a music video shooting because I really want that in every format, people can be feed by my energy.

What are the next steps you plan to take as a band to reach the next level?

My next steps include releasing more music, booking larger venues, and collaborating with other artists to reach a broader audience. We’re also focusing on creating immersive live experiences for the fans. Some stuff could be tested very soon, because my first tour will start in February.

I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?

My new single “Post (Love) Mortem” is one of my most personal tracks yet. It’s a story about resilience, transformation, and finding strength in embracing your darkness. It’s intense, emotional, and reflects my own evolution as a human who became someone else.

What was the recording process like?

It was cathartic. I wanted to capture raw emotions, so with Julien Maurin, my co composer; we focused on creating an atmosphere where we could channel my experiences authentically. There were challenges, but the process felt incredibly rewarding.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

Balancing introspection with universality was the hardest part. I wanted the new song to feel deeply personal but still resonate with listeners from all walks of life.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

There’s always that temptation to tweak something, but at some point, you have to let it go and trust that it’s ready to meet the world.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

To anyone listening to my music: thank you. Your support means everything. And to those chasing their own dreams, please, keep going. The journey is just as important as the destination.
